10-20-30 Virus

Quick: What were you doing Ten, Twenty, Thirty years ago?

10 years ago: I had just got done doing a nine month stretch in the county jail. I had been living on the streets  I had just met my wife Jenny and was living with her and a couple of roommates on the south side of Ft. Wayne, I was unemployed, but managed to have enough money to stay drunk most nights. I spent a lot of time at the Brass Rail.  I drank $1.00 well drinks on Tue, and $1.00 Long Necks on Thurs. I listened to punk rock, Marilyn Manson, and G G Allen, and was a closet dead head) Some of us thought it would be a good idea to set fire to the Bible and light our Cigarettes off of it. I was Lost, Stupid without Hope, and totally oblivious to it all.

20 years about I was 11 years old. I was living in Nappanee, IN. I had just switched from a Lutheran school to public and not adjusting very well. I spent a lot of times with my grandparents. I was getting the crap kicked out of me by kids at church. I was a champion Bible Quizzer and a Sunbeam Singer. I was getting the crap kicked out of me by the kids at school. I was in church every time the door was open.  I was an angry troubled kid I felt like an alien in a hostile environment.

30 years ago: Umm, I don’t know, I guess I was pooping in my pants, living in a trailer park ( I believe it was one of them fancy ole double wides). My father was either in prison or on his way.

Sounds depressing but I know that God will and has been using my past for His Glory.
